Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Clean Technology, Materials and IT sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd (TSX:BDGI), which rose 4.99% or 1.80 points to trade at 37.88 at the close. Meanwhile, International Petroleum Corp (TSX:IPCO) added 2.82% or 0.54 points to end at 19.66 and Secure Energy Services Inc . (TSX:SES) was up 1.94% or 0.23 points to 12.07 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML), which fell 5.58% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.03 at the close. NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:NG) declined 5.13% or 0.32 points to end at 5.92 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR) was down 5.01% or 0.33 points to 6.26.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 532 to 403 and 102 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 7.98% to 12.32.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.09% or 27.70 to $2,519.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.40% or 1.01 to hit $72.94 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 1.06 to trade at $77.11 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.24% to 0.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 101.42.
