Is the stock market open or closed on New Year's Day 2025? See holiday schedule
U.S. stock markets will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year's Day.
The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will both be closed on the holiday but hold regular trading on the final day of 2024.
The U.S. bond markets will close early on Tuesday, Dec. 31., with trading slated to stop for the year at 2 p.m. ET. and remain closed on New Year's Day, according to according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association .
Markets will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.
The next scheduled market closure will occur on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, in observance of the national day of mourning following the death of former President Jimmy Carter .
